WILLIAM GRANT MURRAY

William Grant Murray was the brother of George Murray, also an artist. He was born in Portsoy, where his maternal grandmother lived, but he was brought up in Blairgowrie and married a local girl, Margaret Falconer Findlay. He later became Principal of Swansea Art School (1908-1943), in which post he was said to have 'profoundly affected the civic life of the town', and first curator of the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery (1910-1950).
